Through the hard times this season for the Thunder's franchise, and with their rebuilding stage going on, they have encountered numerous draft picks over the years to help build a young successful team in the next coming years. With their selection of guard Josh Giddey with the sixth overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft, it came as a surprise because he wasn't that known for the rookie class coming from Australia. But he has come to play, to say the least. Yesterday, in Oklahoma City's 98-81 victory over the Portland Trailblazers, Giddey put up 14 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 assists which sets him in front of Russell Westbrook's franchise record of 10 double-doubles in his rookie campaign.

There is truly untapped potential seen in Giddey performance so far this season, and a possible rookie of the year award can happen as well. Averaging 11.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game.

Giddey came into this league with some excellent passing attributes that equated to the NBA substantially, and it will only get better over time. Josh Giddey's excellent stats as of right now, it brings up the question: Is there potential for him to be averaging a triple-double in only a couple of years? With him already beating the rookie record already, becoming the first rookie to achieve 3 triple-doubles in a season and all-star break isn't even upon us just yet, it seems this is a definite possibility.

Josh Giddey is the future of the NBA, and it is remarkable to see his success so early in his career.
