After a 9-8 season for the Miami Dolphins and barely missing the cut for the 2021-22 NFL playoffs, they recently have made the decision to fire the great coach, Brian Flores. First off, this was a terrible decision after a >500 season.
But, Flores sued the NFL and three teams including, the Miami Dolphins, the New York Giants, and the Denver Broncos for alleging racism in hiring practices.
Let me give the backstory, in 2019 the Miami Dolphins general manager, informed Flores that they wanted to tank the season and he would pay Coach Flores $100,000 for every loss the Dolphins had. But, towards the end of the season the dolphins start going on a hot streak, and they start winning games. Then, the GM was mad at Flores for this, and soon after, after a meeting on the GM’s yacht, Flores was fired.
Then when it comes to the Giants and Broncos, when Flores was applying for the head coaching job. The New York Giants decided to waste Flores’s time and only interview him because of the rule that every team must interview a “minority class individual”, called the “NFL’s Rooney Rule”. So basically, the Giants already made their decision on hiring Brian Daboll, then they just wasted Brian Flores’s time because they were forced to. Also, the New England Patriot’s head coach Bill Belichick, was wrongly informed that Flores was wanted for the new head coaching job for the Giants instead of Daboll.
The reason for the Denver Broncos being in these allegations, was because of what happened back in 2019. This was when Denver was looking for a new head coach to hire. Then, Denver screwed over Flores as well leading to them being part of the lawsuit.
The fact that this is still happening in 2022 is unacceptable. The Miami Dolphins, the Denver Broncos, and the New York Giants should be penalized to highest degree.
