After having to change their name from the Washington Redskins to the Washington Football Team 2 years ago. They have finally settled with a new name and branding. The Washington Football Team will be the Washington Commanders from now on.

In 2019 many organizations around the country had to change their branding. This is because of the offense taken from Native Americans, as they saw “redskins” as a racial slur.

When the Commanders first changed their name to the football team back in 2019, everyone thought it was a joke. But recently NFL fans don’t think anything of it.

In the process of changing Washington’s Mascot they had a few options. These include: The RedHawks, the DC Defenders, The Commanders, and The Arsenals. For a point in time, everyone thought they would become the Arsenals from an accidental leak on the team’s website.

With the name change, came a jersey change as well. They gave a modern feel, with a pleasing maroon and gold home jersey, a crisp white and red away jersey, and finally, a beautiful Matt black and gold alternate uniform to cap it off.

I am overwhelmingly pleased with the new “Commander” look to the capital city, as hopefully this indicates great seasons to come for Washington.
