In Connecticut, there are not many prodigies in the high school level that come out of the constitution state. But, Donovan Clingan is a player we have never seen before.
A public school in Bristol, Connecticut, the home of the ESPN headquarters, Bristol Central, is where Clingan plays. This team as of this year stays undefeated at 20-0 over a win tonight over the Middletown Dragons.
As of right now Donovan is averaging 27.3 points, 17.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 5.8 blocks per game in his senior season. But one of the most notable games was pretty recent in a win over Windsor High School where he put up 51 points, 31 rebounds, and 9 blocks! Watching him play in real life is mind-blowing. It looks like he isn’t even trying and he is blocking and dunking on everyone.
Clingan has recently committed to the University of Connecticut. This addition for the Huskies can easily lead them far into the March Madness tournament. The Huskies also have a strong NBA alumni list including, Ray Allen, Andre Drummond, Rudy Gay and many more.
The only problem that arises with Clingan is the fact that he plays for a public high school where he isn’t getting as good as a competition of a big time private school like IMG academy. I believe with Clingan’s unbelievable basketball IQ, I believe he will transition better than everyone thinks.
But, Clingan over the summer plays in some of the biggest aau tournaments. Being the star player on the Spartans and facing amazing competition like Mikey Williams and other high school superstars. So in my opinion, there is nothing to worry about Clingan’s transition to college and NBA play.
