With the Super Bowl being a week from today, the NFL hosted the 2022 Pro Bowl between the AFC and the NFC today. It was truly a nail biter but, the AFC comes out victorious for the fifth time in a row with a 41-35 win.
For the NFC, Kyler Murray started off hot in his quarter throwing for 160 yards and 3 touchdowns. But, after Murray got his taste of the field and they had to put the other quarterbacks in, it went downhill fast. There were 4 touchdowns thrown on the NFC team, them being to, Mike Evans, Kyle Juszczyk, Dalvin Cook, and rookie Kyle Pitts. Also, on the defensive side of the field they were able to steal 3 interceptions and 3 forced fumbles as a group from the NFC, but it was not enough to take the Pro Bowl win.
For the champions, the AFC, as a group there was 3 touchdown passes, 2 by Justin Herbert, and 1 by Mac Jones. Then, they did have a rushing touchdown as wide receiver Stefon Diggs was able to take it in. But, what a game by Ravens Tight End, Mark Andrews. In this game, he was able to grab 5 catches for 82 yards and two touchdowns. The other touchdown reception was Hunter Renfrow as he also produced a good stat line with 43 receiving yards. But what set the AFC apart and what earned them the win was the defensive play, with two forced fumbles and 4 interceptions with 3 of them being for six! And the AFC put up 3 sacks, two of them being by Raiders defensive lineman, Maxx Crosby.
Each year, other than the trophy to the winning team, there is an offensive and defensive MVP of the game. This years winners were: Quarterback Justin Herbert of the Chargers, and Defensive Lineman Maxx Crosby of the Las Vegas Raiders. Are these the right picks? I dont know, for offense it was a toss up between Herbert and Andrews and for the defense it could have been Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns.
Is this a spoiler for what is to come in the Super Bowl with the AFC winning it all? You will not know until next Sunday Night, February 13th as the Cincinnati Bengals and the Los Angeles Rams will be facing off to see who writes history as the Super Bowl 56 champions.
